While Serbia was trying to create a Pan-Slavic state, Austria-Hungary were organizing programs that crushed Slav religion, language and culture. This led to our second long term cause, because of Austria-Hungary's fear that the 5 million Serbs in their borders, would revolt. Austria-Hungary planned to annex Bosnia to weaken Serbia. Deciding to not fulfill their side of the deal with Russia, Austria-Hungary took control of Bosnia. Turkey and Serbia were against this, Serbia was outraged, and openly supported terror attacks against Austria-Hungary. Committed to their goal of a Pan-Slavic state, Serbia's extremists were now ready to act.
