WW1 became the largest conflict the world had seen. It left in its wake; 2.1 million German deaths in their military. A total of 3.8 million Russian deaths. 250 000 British with partial or full amputations. Serbia had 152 958 missing or imprisoned. 3 520 000 Austro-Hungarian were wounded. The impacts of the war re-shaped the world, and all it took was a gun shot. The Archduke's murder resulted in WW1. Tension in The Balkans, nationalist pride and military alliances are contributing factors to the devastation of WW1. The world learnt that one event could shake the balance of power and have since done all they can, not to repeat past mistakes.
